As a child, Cillian was found wounded hiding in a hollow tree in the dark, foreboding part of the forest. His mother was missing. He was discovered by Tierney, a village hunter who offered to help find her whereabouts. Upon tracking the woman within the wood, Tierney spotted blood spilled on the ground. He lifted Cillian, stowing him away in a small tree with instructions to hide as he continued to seek out his mother. It wasn't far from where they stood that he found the boy's mother mangled by wolves. Returning to Cillian and bearing the terrible news heavily in his heart, Tierney lied, sighing that he couldn't find her. He promised that they would check the village for any sign of the missing woman.
Years later, Cillian had grown into a master thief and had become a member of a guild of bandits run by Tierney. Upon a grand heist, the company was caught and separated as they flung themselves into opposite directions. Cillian ran into the woods, harboring the stolen goods with his pursuers stalking him deep into the forest. Memories of his mother’s disappearance and the trauma that ensued began to haunt his vision, and the line between reality and illusion clouded his sight.
